OK, I just verified with a virgin machine.
You get a different error after installing the VC redistributable if .NET is not installed, see that they have .NET 2.0 framework.December 6, 2007 at 7:04 pm #176501The_Nekkid_DJMemberwell I had them run updats…they got .net 3.5 and they installed the c++ stuff…and now the program launches…but only one cam pops up….not all of them in the list…it was been working perfectly for me…with a few things
1. if in an IM or PM window focus pops back to main room, although typing remains active in IM window…in order to switch back, I need to click on room, then back on IM.
2. is it at all possible to close inactive cam windows automatically?
Actually, thats about it….

I don’t know what’s this .NET 3.5, I have just ran updates myself and it updated to 2.0 and 3.0 SP1. Best make sure they have the 2.0 framework installed (I have 1.1 2.0 and 3.0)

Keeping the focus in the room window alone was quite a pain as paltalk activate the cam viewer when it open. I’ll keep looking into it see what can be done.
2. is it at all possible to close inactive cam windows automatically?
It is. However as you may already know, paltalk itself not always display the right image after cam is dropped. Platalk could have made better job if it reused the inactive cam viewers.
I can only “guess” dropped cams, as the properties (that I have found,) that identify it are the same as a cam that attempts reconnect. Maybe I can close a window after several seconds it had no video, but it will still have the risk of closing an active cam viewer.
Another compromise is to set the auto arrange webcam viewers. When this option is active the dropped cams are closed by paltalk, that is if you don’t mind the auto arrange feature which i find quite annoying.December 7, 2007 at 2:02 pm #176499The_Nekkid_DJMemberI have the autoarrange on (I got used to it) but stopped cams do NOT disappear for me automatically. I get either the VIDEO LOADING message, or the black icon screen…..either way, the name if the person on the window name field says “Select a User”

December 7, 2007 at 6:28 pm #176498ChikeMemberCorrect, don’t know how I came to think they are closed automatically.
That text is only visible to human eye but not to software, not in a fassionable way anyway, can’t rely on to close the viewer.December 7, 2007 at 6:31 pm #176497The_Nekkid_DJMember.NET 3.5 Installer
Right here….
December 7, 2007 at 7:24 pm #176496ChikeMemberOK I uninstalled the 2 and 3 .NET frameworks, made sure nothing works, and Installed the the 3.5.
It seems to include the latest 2 and 3 service packs plus 3.5 baiscally, and everything works fine for me.
With the next release I’ll include a debug version that will produce some debug logging to make it possible to analyze such problems.December 11, 2007 at 7:17 pm #176495The_Nekkid_DJMemberOne neat feature to add would be the connect/disconnect in the minimized menu.
other than the focus issue, it has been pretty rock stable for me….I have had a few other people testing it too…..The biggest pain is having to install the VCredist and .net stuff….but ohhh well…I guess an installer could be made to do all that…..

OK I’ll add this. Thinking of it I’ll enable Connect in main window if the selected room is other the one already connected. But it will mean a disconnection of the one that was already connected. In the tray check mark will indicate the connected room.

LOL already found some bugs. Main problem was when paltalk crash for some reason, hopefully it is fixed.

December 17, 2007 at 5:03 pm #176492ChikeMemberHi,
I’ve been slacking but finaly found some time to do some programming.
This update include some bug ficex, and the implamentation of connect/disconnect option in the tray menu. There have been some problems with the names in the .ini file when it grows, so I have moved them to their own section and they are now saved as a struct (some ascii representation orf binary) and thus are not readable. Using the old .ini file should work, but the original names may not be deleted after conversion (the key name may be deleted but the names remain). In case they don’t, they can be deleted manually.
Connect button is now enabled when the room selected is different from the one that is already connected (or none, as before.) Connecting to a different room disconnects the one that was connected (if any.) I am not going to mess with multiple rooms.
Also connected room is shown in the tray menu as with a check mark. Selecting connected room from that menu disconnects it, selecting different room, disconnects the connected room and connects to the other. Anything after, and including the occurence of ” – ” in the room name, is exluded from that menu.A change log is now included.
Please report any bugs/weird behaviour.

July 16, 2008 at 9:09 am #176490ChikeMemberJust a small update. Bug fixes and few changes adn added features.
Mainly delay cam open till the room windows is active, to prevent the room window from covering other windows/applications you may have open.
Cams need to be open are “remembered” until the room window is active (meaning has focus and it’s title has active color)I am thinking of adding color fader if there’s a demand (I personaly don’t fancy them much)
