I was thinking about open source for server, client, and protocols altogether.
Like other open source projects, if it’s in companies interest they’ll support it. There are some non-profit organizations that do too. Of course this may take some time, or won’t happen at all.
I can imagine telephone companies can make use of suce server for phone video conferences, interactive tv shows, and many more applications.
In my oppinion it has the potential to become popular, or at least lead to something that will.
